New segregated fund chargeback options, and changes to DSC options coming.
Available tomorrow! New Canada Life Segregated Funds chargeback option
Starting tomorrow, May 12, we’re supporting you with the introduction of a new two‑year chargeback sales charge option for our Canada Life Segregated Funds policies. This option complements our existing four-year chargeback and front-end load options.

With our two-year and four-year chargeback options, we’ll pay an upfront gross sales commission of 3% and 3.5%, respectively, with trailers beginning in the first month. Compensation percentages are gross percentages. For your rate, refer to your compensation guide (updated version will be posted May 12) or contact commissions@canadalife.com.

Learn more our chargeback options with our updated Chargeback options brochure and Understanding chargeback calculations job aid. The segregated funds advisor product guide has been updated to reflect this option.

Effective May 12: changes to DSC options on segregated funds
Changes to deferred sales charge (DSC) and low-load deferred sales charge (LSC) options on segregated fund policies take effect tomorrow, May 12.

New contributions into DSC/LSC options of Canada Life™ Segregated Funds policies won't be accepted, and future contributions will be automatically placed in FEL 0%, unless alternative instructions were provided.

Important: For policies where DSC is the only sales charge option available, contributions can continue, as long as you provide your clients with the DSC contribution disclosure form, before each contribution. You must document in their client file that this disclosure was provided, where applicable, for audit purposes.

We recently sent letters to your affected clients who have active contributions going into DSC/LSC options. If you have impacted clients, you would have received an email with more details.

Visit the DSC landing page for supporting resources or connect with your Canada Life wealth wholesaling team.

Is it time for value investing?
With today’s rising interest rates, increased inflation and market volatility your clients want to know what you're doing to protect their portfolio. This can make it a good time to consider value investing, which looks at the health of companies, not just how they are currently performing. Check out the latest report from Canada Life Investment Management Ltd. to learn more about how and why the value investing approach outperformed other styles recently and how to start the conversation with your clients in 2023.
