In light of the Canada Post labour disruption, BMO Insurance is prepared to meet the needs of you and your clients. The following processes are in place, and intended to minimize the impact on your business and any effect on your clients. Correspondence normally sent through Canada Post mail will be handled as follows:
| We will send urgent client mail by courier. Urgent client mail includes documents such as decline/postpone letters. |
| Client mail that is not urgent will be held until postal service resumes. Non-urgent mail includes policy statements, confirmations, settle and closure letters and premium billings. | The labour disruption will not affect courier deliveries normally sent to your office via ICS. Please advise your clients that documents normally sent to you or BMO Insurance via Canada Post can be sent via secure email to insurance.clientservices@bmo.com or faxed directly to 1-866-716-8999. For Segregated Funds, documents can be faxed to 1-855-747-5613, or TLS partners can submit via secure email at documents.bmolifegif@bmo.com. For any questions, please call 1-855-639-3867. For Annuities, documents can be faxed to 1-866-716-8999, or inquiries can be sent to insurance.annuities@bmo.com. For any questions, please call 1-866-382-7401. Reminder: For immediate online insurance applications, please use SmartApp. For electronic policy delivery, new life insurance and critical illness policies, and most term conversion policies SmartDelivery can help. For segregated funds, please use the digital BMO GIF eApplication (eApp). The following options are available to your clients and should be reiterated to make payments to their policies:
| Setting up payment via Pre Authorized Debit (PAD) |
| Paying their premium directly through online or telephone banking | Note: During a postal disruption only, your client may take a sealed, pre-printed or pre-addressed envelope containing their cheque and pre-printed billing information to any BMO Branch. This will not result in immediate payment of premiums so please ensure your clients are aware of the need to use this option at least two days in advance of their scheduled payment date. Cash payments will not be accepted. The address for the envelope must be: BMO Life Assurance Company 9-250 Yonge St. Toronto, ON M5B 2L7 Of course, clients can also drop off their payment at your office to be sent to BMO Insurance via your regular MGA courier mail. Although premium billings will not be sent during a disruption, MGA's and advisors will continue to receive their grace period and late payment notices to alert them to the fact that a premium is still outstanding. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact our Client Services Division at insurance.clientservices@bmo.com or by telephone at 1-800-387-4483. For commission payments, if you are still receiving payment by cheque, this is just a reminder that this would be a good time to set up EFT payments which would be unaffected by outside factors such as this labour disruption. If you have a claim concern or a claim that needs to be opened, contact us at 1-866-355-8855 or e-mail us at insurance.claims@bmo.com. MB 883 (2025/09/29)
