Empire Life December 31, 2022 Investment Statements 

The Empire Life December 31, 2022 Investment Statements will be available online beginning January 16, 2023. Hard copies begin mailing to customers on January 24, 2023. Customers registered for MyEmpire online who have opted in for electronic statements (eStatements) will not receive mailed copies and instead will receive an email notifying them to login to their account. Advisor copies of all customer statements will be
available through the Advisor Dashboard / Business Centre. Our advisor Online Statements feature allows you to conveniently download statements as Individual (single policy) or Bulk (all policies in a .zip file).

Taking a deep dive into the TFSA 

The tax-free savings account program began in 2009. While the contribution room for the first year was $5,000, it will be $88,000 in 2023 (for someone who was 18 or older in 2009). What was initially a small component of financial and tax planning for clients has now become an essential planning tool. In this presentation, we will go further than looking at the basic aspects of TFSAs. We’ll also look at optimizing tax efficiency for couples, positioning assets and estate planning using TFSAs. We will look at these various aspects through case studies making it easier for advisors to guide and advise clients.

Guidelines for Immigrants

The Underwriting Department is pleased to announce that updates have been made to the Guidelines for Immigrants. These include:

• Increased life insurance face amounts for Temporary Residents to $500,000 with consideration to $1,000,000 for residents who have
  been in Canada for more than 2 years
• Increased life insurance face amounts for Post Graduate Work Program Visa holders to $500,000
• Student Visa holders age 18 and up may qualify for life insurance face amounts to $250,000
