Advocis, The Financial Advisors Association of Canada, is the largest voluntary professional membership association of financial advisors in Canada, representing more than 17,000 member-clients and 40 Chapters across the country.

Advocis offers designation programs, continuing education opportunities, industry-leading publications and membership in a chapter network that includes mentorship, study groups, practice development, and more.

Canadian Association of Life Independent Brokerage Agencies (CAILBA)

The Canadian Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies (CAILBA) will include, as its members, a majority of the country’s life and health insurance brokerage agencies. Its mandate will be to lobby provincial and federal legislative issues affecting the industry, and establish uniform standards within the industry for efficient information processing. It will also provide an effective forum for networking and relationship building among members, insurance companies and industry vendors.

Independent Financial Brokers (IFB) is a not-for-profit Association representing independent insurance, mutual fund and other financial service professionals.

Registered Deposit Brokers Association

Registered Deposit Brokers Association (RDBA) is the professional standards association for the Canadian client name deposit industry founded in 1986.

RDBA protects depositors’ interests and strengthens market integrity and efficiency in the Canadian Deposit Broker industry. RDBA helps shape regulatory initiatives, provides members with opportunities to exchange ideas, educates members on industry issues, offers designations through courses approved by Advocis and administers a national registry and referral service for clients and financial institutions seeking Deposit Brokers. RDBA members are comprised of Canadian Financial Institutions and Deposit Brokers.

RDBA Deposit Brokers are vetted, trained, and tested to ensure that they meet the requirements of both the Financial Institutions that they represent and the Code of Ethics and Rules and Regulations of the RDBA. Each of these elements is included in a compliance summary that is updated daily and available to the deposit-taking institutions with whom the Deposit Broker has an agency agreement.
